Running Your Pit Bike Engine For the Very First Time!

This article is relevant to anyone who has just purchased a pitbike online and asks them what to do after build!

The manuals of most manufacturers and other sources will tell you the same about the first use of the machine:

Ride the bike at a maximum of two-thirds of its full throttle and avoid high revs during the first two hours of the ride. It is usually recommended to drain the oil AFTER these two hours and use high quality semi-synthetic engine oil 10W40 for 4-stroke engines.

Since I recently bought two new pitbike ssr, I am browsing the very popular pitbike forum (pitbikeclub.co.uk), where I am looking for some information about the meeting and breaking up the content and come across very valuable information. This article is a brief summary of a newsletter article I found written by Motoman. Motoman is a very experienced tuner of superbikes with its own newsletter (Power News Magazine). This “Break-In Secrets” article is very controversial.

“Links to this article can now be found on hundreds of motorsport discussion forums around the world. The reason is that over time, many people have made a direct comparison of my method and manual. Owners and reports of their success are spreading fast.”

“The results are always the same … a dramatic increase in power at all revolutions per minute. In addition, many professional mechanics disassemble machines using this method to find out – and that the condition of the machine is better than then.” in the owner’s manual .used the hacking method. What makes his site so controversial is that there are many other hacking articles previously written that go against what is written here. “

Motoman wrote “Break-In Secrets” after this method was successfully used on approximately 300 new machines, all with many consequences and without any problems. That I advise you to follow his advice!

According to Motoman, there is a risk of a permanent loss of power of about 2 to 10 percent if the manufacturer’s instructions are followed. Immediate consequences of light burglary are leaking piston rings. This will allow the crankcase pressure to accelerate and slow down the absorption of oil in the combustion chamber. In other words: power loss and permanent engine oil contamination. The only solution to a bad run-in is to replace the cylinders, install new piston rings and start again. In other words .. you have to get the machine out!

Only ONE for proper engine breakage! Let me explain why and how. Proper damage to your engine then seals the piston ring. Proper bending will lead to a better fit of the piston ring to the cylinder surface. This will prevent the pistons from leaking. The new rings need to be worn a little to seal the entire circumference of the bore. If the gas pressure is high enough during the first few kilometers of operation (open the gas!), Then the entire ring wears on the inside of the cylinder to seal the combustion pressure as much as possible. So what is the problem of very easy burglary?

The ground cross-hatch pattern on the cylinder bore acts as a file that allows the rings to be worn. The rings wear the “peaks” of this brutality quickly, no matter how much the engine runs. There is very little opportunity to get the O-rings very carefully … the first 20 miles! If the rings are not pressed quickly against the walls, they will use force before they are fully seated. If this happens, all you have to do is sharpen the cylinders, fit new rings and start again. So … the best advice I’ve found is to shut down your computer

1) Go fast! (for specific ways: entering the dyna, on the street or on the racetrack … see the article on page Motomans 14!

2) DO NOT use synthetic oil! Top up the oil immediately upon receipt of the motorcycle BEFORE it slips, as you cannot guarantee quality. Use Valvoline, Halvoline or similar 10W40 kerosene CAR OIL. Change the oil and oil filter after the first 20 km !! After two days of hard racing, you can move on to your favorite brand. Take a look at the article and find out why.

To let you know, I will inform you about the effects of these methods on ssr pitbike [http://www.thepitbikestore.com/index.php?cPath=3]

Are there any known effects of this approach on the SSR pitbike?
